- I think my point has been missed. No one should be legally married. I'm a woman, with a male partner (a husband as it is) and I should not be legally married. I should have a legal, civil contract for taxes, insurance, rights to visit my partner in the hospital.

- In my opinion, allowing the word "marriage" to become ingrained and accepted as a legal description of a procedure/agreement in this country was wrong from the get-go. It's a religious or spiritual rite, not a right. There's a difference.

- I wholeheartedly agree!! Psychologists love to label and categorize, explain things away according to the DSM, etc. w/o considering quantum physics, etc. Yes, psychologists have a role to play but it is certainly not that of a physicist.

- I agree whole-heartedly...and I too am a woman. Another thing to be mentioned is, the woman claiming to have awoken to Mr. Assange having sex with her DID allow him in her bed. For him to initiate another "go" at some point while they were in bed together would not be incredulous.

- Unless there is an immediate cure/surgery available that the parents are neglecting to consider, the government has not right to dictate. Chemo has such a small success rate and it decimates the body. This ruling was just wrong. Period. There are alternatives.

- hit the nail on the head. Since the term "marriage" obviously carries with it certain religious connotations (as is apparent by the reasons given by those against gay marriage), it should have never been included in state legislation in the first place. That is combining church and state …

DR,the Constitution states that there shall be no church created by the Federal Government. Nor shall the government infringe on a persons right to worship. Separation of church and State is a red herring used to divert attention from an argument. The proposal under discussion has nothing to do with any perceived separation. What is does is provide for staff members of medical facilities to excuse themselves if faced with procedures they find objectionable based on their beliefs.
